The Propx Story – The Beginnings
In just a blink of an eye, Propx has become a well-known and respected player in the industry. Founded in 2020, the company specializes in professional facility management. We spoke with its founder, Tibor Móritz, about the industry, the story behind Propx, and the inspiration behind its name.
Why is it crucial for companies to take facility management seriously?
A Facility Manager is responsible for delivering a comprehensive service that aligns with the strategic objectives of the client organization. This role extends far beyond system maintenance and repairs—it encompasses everything from constructing, leasing, and operating buildings or other facilities, to security, cleaning, catering, fleet management, and increasingly, energy management services.
As you can see, facility management is an incredibly complex field. Any organization that wants to focus on its core business rather than dealing with the challenges of facility-related issues can benefit from professional support. Just like in any industry, there are pitfalls, but a well-prepared, experienced team can avoid these challenges—and sometimes even turn them into an advantage for the client.
Have you always been drawn to facility management?
I’ve always been fascinated by the technical world, but at the start of my career, I pursued studies in finance at the Budapest Business School and spent a few years working in the banking sector. Later, as I neared the end of my engineering studies, I joined a multinational logistics company, where I gradually became immersed in operations management. During this time, I gained extensive knowledge of warehousing, its technologies, and, of course, the facilities that support these processes.
What captivated me most about facility management was its diversity. I realized early on that mastering this field would take years of experience, which made it even more appealing—it was clear that this industry would never become monotonous.
What led you to start Propx?
Before founding Propx, I worked on the client side, which was a somewhat dual role—I oversaw service providers while also managing the company's internal facility operations. In this position, I had to balance internal client needs while also being a client myself.
This experience taught me a great deal about translating corporate expectations into actionable tasks for service providers. It was during this time that I realized many service providers operated with a completely different mindset than what was expected by their client organizations.
Time and time again, I found myself explaining operational needs to facility managers and technicians so they could understand why certain tasks were necessary. I never understood why service providers didn’t take the initiative to educate their teams about their clients’ facilities. Because of this, I often felt a lack of reliability, integrity, and quality. I frequently encountered unanswered questions, missed deadlines, unfinished tasks, or work completed to a subpar standard.
During the pandemic, these challenges became even more apparent to me. I started to think about how this industry could be approached differently—with greater ownership, expertise, and a deep understanding of the client’s business needs. I believed that if we built a company based on trust, professionalism, and reliability, just as we had done in various corporate roles before, we could create something truly successful.
And so, Propx was born… What inspired the company name?
The name Propx comes from the English term “Property Expert”, reflecting our real estate expertise. We wanted a short, catchy, and easily recognizable brand name, and based on market feedback, we’ve achieved exactly that.
